EDUCATOR(S): DAVID BURKETT
As long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to the creative process. I am fascinated by taking an idea, and working it, developing it, nurturing it until the final result is revealed. With these projects I have done in my high school years, I have found joy, excitement and growth as an artist by using the creative process to solve design challenges. This work has taught me to remain persistent in my endeavors and patient with the process. Through the design process, I have discovered the invaluable lesson that in order to arrive at the final design result, I must walk through each of the individual steps that ultimately lead me to it.
With architecture, this process has become a part of my life. I now welcome challenges and try to step outside my comfort zone. I have realized that the best way to learn something is to work with it, recognize mistakes, and take lessons from these mistakes in order to grow as an artist. This body of work represents my journey over my 4 years in high school, and shows the narrative of my growth as a student of architecture.
